IIT Kanpur organises workshop on mechatronics, microfabrication

IIT Kanpur's department of mechanical engineering has organised a 11-day workshop, 'MechMicroFab-2022' under mission 'ABHYAAS.'
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, (IIT-K) has organised the 'mechatronics and microfabrication (MechMicroFab-2022) workshop that commenced on yesterday, December 5 and will continue till December 15, 2022. A total of 40 students will be participating in the event.
This 11-day workshop will be funded by the department of science and technology-science and engineering research board (DST-SERB), under “Accelerate Vigyan, Mission- ABHYAAS. IIT Kanpur's department of mechanical engineering has organised the workshop with the aim to skill researchers in adapting and evolving with scientific research and modern technologies in a rapidly changing global manufacturing scenario.

MechMicroFab-2022 caters to the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical System (NM-ICPS) while offering a platform for training with basic and advanced control systems, mechatronics, statistical tools, modern manufacturing, and precision micro and nanoscale fabrication technologies.
The trained researchers will be in line with the vision of Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat introduced by the government of India. The workshop will be coordinated by IIT Kanpur, department of mechanical engineering, Janakarajan Ramkumar and Sarvesh Kumar Mishra. "The 11 day-long workshop will give priority to impart knowledge on certain areas that otherwise remain less-explored," said the IIT-K press statement.
Speakers from various institutions will be delivering lectures on different research areas. IIT Kanpur, department of mechanical engineering, Sarvesh Kumar Mishra said: "The participants will receive hands-on training on high-end equipment, planning and performing experiments, data collection and interpretation, and basic etiquettes to maintain exorbitant precision machining and additive manufacturing systems which covers various application industries from biomedical to defence, aerospace to automotive sectors.
