IIT Madras launches 3 AI courses on SWAYAM Plus under ‘AI for All’ initiative

SWAYAM Plus, led by IIT Madras, completes two years with 5.5 lakh learners; apply for new AI courses by May 10, 2026
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has launched three Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses under its digital learning platform SWAYAM Plus as part of the ‘AI for All’ campaign. The courses have been developed in partnership with IITM Pravartak.
Registrations for the new courses are now open on the official SWAYAM Plus portal. Candidates can apply online, and the last date to register is May 10, 2026.
The new courses—AI for Aspiring Engineers, AI for Administrators, and Prompt Engineering—are made for beginners. No prior coding or AI knowledge is needed. These courses are open to students, working professionals, and learners from all backgrounds.

According to a statement from IIT Madras, the AI for Aspiring Engineers course helps students moving from school to engineering learn basic skills in Python, AI, and Machine Learning using real-world data. The course fee is Rs 500 plus GST.
The AI for Administrators course is designed for management students and working professionals. It helps them use AI and Machine Learning to make better decisions. The course fee is Rs 100 plus GST.
The Prompt Engineering course teaches learners how to use AI tools effectively to get correct and useful results. This course also costs Rs 100 plus GST.
SWAYAM Plus: IIT Madras launches AI courses
The courses were launched by V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, at an event on the campus to mark two years of SWAYAM Plus . The event was attended by representatives from government, industry, academia, and the learner community.
R Sarathi, coordinator of SWAYAM Plus and Dean (Planning) at IIT Madras, said that the platform has grown a lot in the last two years and continues to focus on job-related learning aligned with national education goals.
“SWAYAM Plus has achieved a major milestone with over 5.50 lakh registered learners since its launch. The platform currently offers more than 500 online courses across 15+ sectors, including engineering, banking and financial services (BFSI), IT/ITeS, and Indian Knowledge Systems”, the statement said.
“The ‘AI for All’ initiative, launched in May 2025 with IITM Pravartak , has received a strong response. The first batch saw over 42,000 registrations, while the second batch, which also included the AI for Educators course for school teachers, received more than 50,000 registrations”, the statement stated.
