IIT Madras Zanzibar opens admission for BS in chemical process engineering; apply by July 6

IIT Madras Zanzibar campus invites global applications for the UG programme; screening tests on July 13, classes begin on October 6
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Zanzibar campus has opened admission for a new undergraduate course - Bachelor of Science (BS) in chemical process engineering. The campus in Tanzania is inviting applications from all nationalities, including Indians.
The applications for the BS programme will close on July 6. Screening tests will be conducted in Chennai, Zanzibar, and other locations. Shortlisted candidates will have online interviews.
IIT Madras has laid down the eligibility criteria for admission to the course. Physics, chemistry and mathematics are mandatory subjects to be eligible for admission.
Students need to have at least one of the following degrees at the time of admission:
- Class 12 or equivalent
- Form VI
- GCE Advanced Level
- IB Diploma
- Cambridge AS and A Level

IIT Madras Zanzibar: BS chemical process engineering
The IITM Zanzibar BS chemical process degree will combine theory fundamentals with practical lab work, projects, and interdisciplinary electives. Students will develop a strong core in chemical process engineering, along with concentrations in data science, energy, and sustainability, an official statement said. Students will take part in a capstone project aligned with the local industry.

Other than the BS chemical process engineering course, IITM Zanzibar campus offers programmes like BS in data science and artificial intelligence (AI), Master of Technology (MTech) in data science and AI, and MTech in ocean structures.
