Candidates can fill choices and receive seat allotments based on JEE rank; revised Class 12 scorecard meeting eligibility criteria must be submitted by July 15
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has clarified that candidates who qualified JEE Advanced 2026 but do not currently meet the Class 12 marks eligibility criteria can still take part in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling process and fill their choices for admission.
In an official post on X, IIT Roorkee said that candidates with less than 75% marks in Class 12 or equivalent for General, Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) categories, and less than 65% for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, will still be allowed to participate in the seat allocation process.
"Students can currently fill in their choices, and seats will be allotted based on their rank," IIT Roorkee said.

Revised Class 12 scorecard by July 15
The clarification comes as several students are waiting for improvement exam results or revised marksheets after re-evaluation and supplementary exams, IIT Roorkee said.
According to the institute, these candidates will be required to submit a revised scorecard that meets the eligibility criteria by July 15, 2026, via email at orgjee@iitr.ac.in.
IIT Roorkee said admission will be confirmed only after the revised scorecard is received and verified. "Once this is received, admission will be given for the seat allotted to you after the fourth round," the institute added.

Eligibility criteria remains unchanged
The clarification comes after concerns from JEE Advanced 2026 qualifiers about the Class 12 eligibility rule for IIT admissions. After the board exam results were declared, several students asked whether those waiting for improvement exam results or revised marksheets could take part in counselling.
As per the JEE Advanced 2026 admission criteria, candidates must score at least 75% marks in Class 12 or equivalent exams (65% for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) to get admission to IITs. Alternatively, candidates can also qualify if they are in the top 20 percentile of their respective board results in their category.
IIT Roorkee has clarified that the eligibility criteria still apply. However, students who haven’t met the required marks can still participate in choice filling and seat allotment based on their JEE Advanced rank, as long as they submit an updated qualifying marksheet by the deadline.
