The engineering institute will open the application window for JAM 2026 registration on September 5. Eligible candidates will be able to register themselves through the official website at jam2026.iit.ac.in till October 12.
The engineering institute will conduct the JAM 2026 on February 15, 2026 in two shifts for a duration of three hours. The morning shift will be held from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, while the afternoon shift will take place from 2:30 to 5:30 pm. The results will be declared on March 28.

A total of 47 colleges, including 21 IITs, 15 National Institute of Technology (NITs), and 11 other institutions will be participating in the JAM 2026 counselling.
The non-refundable registration fee for JAM 2026 for female, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disability (PwD) category candidates is Rs 1,000 for one test paper and Rs 1,350 for two papers. Similarly, all other category applicants must pay Rs 2,000 to appear in one paper, while Rs 2,700 to appear in both the papers.
“Fee for changing examination cities or test papers or category or gender is Rs 300 apart from the applicable difference in Application charges,” as per the official website.

IIT Bombay JAM 2026: Courses, exam pattern
The JAM 2026 will be conducted for admission to MSc, MSc (Tech), MS (research), MSc MTech dual degree, Joint MSc PhD, and MSc PhD dual degree programmes at IITs.
It is also a gateway for admission to Joint MSc- PhD Programme (Chemistry, Maths, Physics, Geology, Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences) and MSc-Phd Dual Degree Programme (Energy Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering) at IISc Bangalore.
The computer-based test will consist of multiple choice (MCQs), and numerical answer type (NAT) questions. Candidates in merit list will be eligible for admission to around 3,000 seats in various PG programmes at IITs, according to the official brochure.
As per the eligibility criteria, candidates who have completed their UG degree or are currently in the final year of UG programme are eligible to apply for JAM 2026. The JAM 2026 syllabus will include subjects such as Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Geology (GG), Mathematical Statistics (MS), Mathematics (MA) and Physics (PH).
