The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee has published the syllabus for the Joint Entrance Examination – Architecture Aptitude Test (JEE AAT 2026). Candidates can download the JEE Advanced AAT 2026 syllabus on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in.

The JEE AAT exam evaluates candidates based on a wide range of creative, visual, and analytical skills necessary for pursuing a career in the field of architecture. This test focuses on evaluating a student's ability to observe, imagine, and accurately represent objects and places in detail.

JEE Advanced AAT is conducted in pen-and-paper mode for a duration of 3 hours and includes sections on freehand drawing, geometrical drawing, three-dimensional perception, imagination and aesthetic sensitivity, and architectural awareness.

Candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) course at IIT Roorkee , IIT Kharagpur , and IIT (BHU) Varanasi must qualify for the JEE AAT 2026.

As per the JEE AAT 2026 schedule, IIT Roorkee will begin the registration process on June 1, with the application window open until June 2. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 process will also begin on June 2, and the JEE AAT 2026 result will be declared on June 7.

The JEE AAT 2026 exam centre list will be released on the official website soon. The AAT entrance exam will be conducted in the English language only.

Freehand drawing

Drawing objects from memory with correct proportion, detail, and texture.

Geometrical drawing

Drawing shapes, plans, elevations, and basic 3D forms.

Three-dimensional perception

Understanding and visualising 3D forms, volume, and spatial relationships.

Imagination and aesthetic sensitivity

Creativity, composition, colour sense, and innovative thinking.

Architectural awareness

Knowledge of famous buildings, architects, and architectural styles (Indian and global).

As per the JEE eligibility criteria , only candidates who qualify for JEE Advanced 2026 are eligible to appear for the AAT.
