NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) which started the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) session 2 exams on April 6, held the fourth and fifth day of the entrance test on April 11 and April 12 respectively. Applicants taking the JEE Mains exam had to download the jeemain.nta.nic.in admit card from the official website. JEE Main 2023 Exam Live

The JEE Main 2023 exam today is being held in two slots. While the first slot between 9 am and 12 noon was held for BTech and BE paper, the second slot is being conducted for BArch and BPlanning papers from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Candidates will have to mandatorily follow all the instructions as mentioned for the JEE Mains exam day. Checklist for JEE Main 2023 exam day.

  • Applicants will have to take JEE Main 2023 hall ticket.
  • Along with the JEE admit card 2023, any one of the original and valid photo identification proofs issued by the government must be carried. PAN card or driving license or voter id or passport or aadhaar card with photograph) or e-aadhaar or ration card or identification affidavit will be considered valid id proofs.
  • JEE Main 2023 hall ticket also has details of guidelines including filling up of a self-declaration form. Candidates will have to sign and put left hand thumb impression there.
  • Candidates must avoid wearing any piece of jewellery, watch, or any electronic gadgets.
  • JEE Main admit card and the rough pages should be handed over to the invigilator after the shift gets over.
  • A blue or black ball point pen can be carried

JEE Main 2023: How will result be prepared for paper 2A, 2B?

"Since session 1 of JEE (Main) - 2023 Paper-2A (BArch) or Paper-2B (BPlanning) will be conducted in multi-shifts, NTA scores will be calculated corresponding to the raw (actual) marks obtained by a candidate. The calculated NTA scores for all the shifts will be declared on the NTA websites. This will comprise the NTA scores for each of the three parts (Mathematics, Aptitude Test, and Drawing Test or Planning Based Test) and the total in Paper 2A (B. Arch) or Paper 2B (B. Planning) of Session 1 of JEE (Main) 2023," said NTA in information bulletin.

According to Nitin Arora, Assistant Director Academics Engg., Aakash BYJU'S Live, the overall difficulty level was easy to moderate. Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt out of all three subjects. The order of difficulty in different subjects is Mathematics > Physics > Chemistry.

  • Physics was rated as easy to moderate on the difficulty level. It consisted mostly of easy & moderate questions. Most of the questions were NCERT based and were evenly distributed among all major units and.
  • Chemistry was rated as the easiest out of all. The number of questions in Physical Chemistry was more than in inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. 
  • Mathematics was rated as moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from all chapters. Emphasis was on Algebra and on Calculus.

Analysis of JEE Main April 12, 2023 by BYJU’S

As per Ajay Sharma, National Academic Director, Engineering, Aakash BYJU’S, NTA has increased the difficulty level for April 12(Shift 1) as compared to other sessions of JEE Main Exam (Phase 2), it was a paper of moderate level. Physics was the easiest of the lot whereas Mathematics because of lengthy calculations and tricky questions was considered to be moderate to difficult by many students.

JEE Main 12 April Shift 1: Immediate reaction of students after the exam

  • The reporting time for students was 8:20 am however the exam started sharp at 9 am.
  • Students were not allowed to carry anything inside examination hall except a transparent ballpoint pen, admit card and aadhar card. Transparent water bottles were allowed. All guidelines as released by NTA earlier were followed for safety of the exam takers.
  • Every student was made to go through a sanitizing station where they had to sanitize themselves through a foot press lever. Students reported that entry was stopped after 8:30 am.
  • Personal masks were not allowed. Every student was given a fresh surgical mask at entry. 
  • Metal detectors were used at the entry gate and no bags or wristwatches were allowed inside.
  • Students reported that entry started as soon as they were screened at the entry point.
  • A time clock on the computer screen was provided inside the examination hall.

JEE Mains today paper analysis shift 1: Difficulty level

The level of difficulty as per feedback from students on April 12, 2023 (forenoon session).

  • Mathematics – Moderately Tough level. Questions were asked from all chapters with an emphasis on Chapters of Coordinate Geometry & Calculus. Mixed Concept Questions were asked from Circles, Ellipse, Hyperbola. In Algebra chapters covered where Vectors (2 questions), 3-D Geometry (3 to 4 questions), Binomial Theorem, Progressions, Matrices, Mathematical Reasoning, Statistics (2 questions), Permutation & Combination, and Probability. In Calculus- Functions (3 questions), Definite Integrals (2 questions), Area, Differential Equations. Numerical Section had lengthy calculations. A few questions were reported as Tricky.
  • Physics – Easy level. Questions asked from Kinematics, Fluids, Heat & Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Gravitation, Rotational Motion, EM Waves,  Electrostatics, Semiconductors, Magnetism, AC Circuits, Current Electricity, Modern Physics & Ray Optics. Numerical-based questions were easy. Overall, this section was balanced as per students.
  • Chemistry – Easy to Moderate Level. Inorganic Chemistry was given more weightage compared to Physical & Organic Chemistry. Numerical Based questions were mostly from Physical Chemistry – Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Ionic Equilibrium. Questions also asked from Chemistry in Everyday Life, p & d block, Phenols, Coordination Compounds. Some mixed-concept questions were asked in Organic Chemistry involving Amines, Aldehydes & Ketones, Biomolecules, Polymers. Some students reported matching the following questions in Inorganic Chemistry as time-consuming and tricky. Organic Chemistry was reported tricky.

In terms of order of difficulty – Mathematics was moderately tough while Physics was easy among the three subjects. Overall, this paper was of moderate level as per students.

As per Nitin Arora, Assistant Director Academics Engg., Aakash BYJU'S Live, the analysis of JEE Main 2023 April 11 shift 1 paper is as follows-

Subject Wise Difficulty Level 

  • Physics was rated as easy on the difficulty level. It consisted mostly of easy and moderate questions. Questions were evenly distributed among all units and most of the questions were NCERT based.
  • Chemistry was rated as easy to moderate on difficulty level. Almost equal weightage was given to Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry. 
  • Mathematics was rated as moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from all chapters. Emphasis was on Algebra. 

Class Wise Distribution Level 

  • In Physics, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
  • In Chemistry, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
  • In Mathematics, majorly questions were from the Class 11th syllabus.
  • Overall the questions had an approximately equal weightage from the Class 11th & Class 12th syllabus.

Overall Difficulty Level 

The overall difficulty of JEE Main (Session 2) April 11, 2023 - Shift 1  was easy to moderate. Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt out of all three subjects.
