Karnataka Teacher Recruitment 2026: 15,000 posts announced; applications from August 18

The Karnataka School Education Department has announced recruitment for 15,000 teacher posts, with the online application process scheduled to begin on August 18, 2026. Eligible candidates will be able to submit their Karnataka teacher recruitment 2026 applications online until September 7, 2026.

The notification states that applications will be invited for teaching posts across educational districts. The Karnataka teacher recruitment drive covers 6,967 posts in the Kalyana Karnataka region and 8,033 posts in the residual parent cadre.

Karnataka School Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced the recruitment on social media and said the government had decided to start the process after delays caused by factors including internal reservation and court orders.

Bangarappa said in his X post, “As I promised earlier, we have initiated the recruitment of 15,000 teachers.” He added that the government has decided to issue separate notifications and conduct recruitment based on vacancies in each educational district.

Further, he said the recruitment will include graduate primary school teachers, computer science teachers, physical education teachers and high school assistant teachers, among other teaching positions mentioned in the recruitment notification.

The minister said the government has directed officials to conduct the recruitment process transparently. “I have already issued clear directions to officials to conduct this recruitment process transparently and without any confusion,” he said.

Karnataka Teacher Recruitment 2026: Vacancies

According to the recruitment details, the 15,000 vacancies include 8,500 Graduate Primary Teacher (GPT) posts, 4,500 assistant master posts, 900 primary school teacher posts, 600 physical education teacher posts and 500 computer science teacher posts.

The Karnataka Teacher Recruitment 2026 online application form will be available from August 18 to September 7, 2026. Candidates will have time to pay the application fee until September 10, 2026. The examination date has not yet been announced.

The minister said applications will be accepted only through online mode. Candidates will have to check the notification applicable to their educational district for details such as available posts, vacancies and reservations.

The Karnataka teacher notification 2026 also states that the recruitment will be carried out based on the requirements and vacancies of individual educational districts. Candidates are advised to read the relevant notification carefully before applying.

The recruitment process will include a computer-based test, followed by post-specific stages, wherever applicable, and document verification. A physical efficiency or physical standard test may be applicable for physical education teacher posts.
