Maharashtra FYJC admissions 2026-27 is on at mahafyjcadmissions.in; tentative date for the opening of student registration is May 5
Maharashtra will introduce a fully centralized, online, and merit-based admission system for Class 11 across all recognized higher secondary schools and junior colleges from the academic year 2026–27, the government has announced.
The reform builds on a gradual expansion of online admissions that began in 2009–10 in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMRDA area) and was later extended to cities including Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur, Nashik, Amravati, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Since 2025–26, the system has been implemented statewide on a merit basis.
The latest decision aims to further streamline the process, ensuring transparency, uniform access, and standardized admission procedures across Maharashtra.
Online junior college admissions for all streams
Under the new guidelines, Class 11 admissions will be conducted through a centralized online system for all streams: Arts, Commerce, and Science, in all recognized junior colleges, including minority institutions.

Admissions will be strictly based on merit, calculated using Class 10 board examination marks (best five subjects). However, vocational (HSVC) courses will continue to follow offline admission processes at the institution level.
Single application, multiple preferences allowed
Students will be required to apply online through a centralized portal. Each applicant can select between one and ten college preferences. The system will also allow students to modify stream preferences during different admission rounds.
Authorities have warned that submission of false or incorrect documents will lead to cancellation of admission and possible legal action.
Maharashtra FYJC admission process, tie-breaking rules
Admissions to Class 11 will be strictly based on Class 10 board examination marks, considering the best five subjects for merit calculation. In case two or more students secure the same marks, tie-breaking will be done sequentially based on higher marks in the qualifying examination, followed by preference to the older candidate (based on date of birth), and finally by alphabetical order of names.

The admission process will be conducted in multiple phases, including three regular merit-based rounds, an Open-to-All round for filling remaining vacant seats, and a special round exclusively for girl students, along with additional rounds if required depending on seat availability. Students will also have the flexibility to cancel their admission and reapply in later rounds, ensuring better opportunity and choice throughout the centralized admission process.
Reservation and quota structure retained
The centralized system will continue to follow reservation norms, including:
- Women: 30%
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 4%
- Special categories: 5%
- Orphans: 1%
In addition, seat distribution under quotas will include:
- Minority Quota: 50% seats reserved for minority students
- Management Quota: 5% seats (not applicable to government schools)
- In-house Quota: 10% seats for students from the same institution
Remaining seats will be filled through the central merit-based process.
