Mahindra University’s first international moot court competition concludes; 24 law colleges participated

NEW DELHI: Mahindra University's school of law concluded its inaugural International moot court competition, which saw participation from 24 law institutions across India and around the world. The three-day event was inaugurated by R Subhash Reddy, former supreme court judge, and Narsimha Reddy Anantha, chairman of the telangana bar council. The Mahindra University's moot court competition provided a platform for future legal minds to participate in courtroom sessions aimed at fostering professional excellence and competitive spirit among the students.

The event witnessed the presence of chief guest Justice A Muhammed Mustaque, Judge of the Kerala high court, guests of honour Justice Vijaysen Reddy and Justice P Madhavi Devi of Telangana high court, along with Professor G V Reddy, P S Rao, and other dignitaries.

The moot proposition delves into legal issues regarding AI weapon aiming and state actions in conflict circumstances. Participants showed their knowledge by citing international pacts and legal instruments such as the ICJ Statute, RSIWA, and UDHR, which were supported by precedents such as Bosnian Genocide case and Nicaragua v USA.

Yajulu Medury, vice chancellor of Mahindra University, said, "This competition not only reflects the global reach of Mahindra University but also highlights our emphasis on addressing contemporary legal challenges. The intersection of Technology and International Law is a crucial arena, and our students have demonstrated commendable skills in navigating its complexities."

Mahindra University moot court competition winner

Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, won the first prize, which included a trophy, 1,00,000 INR in prize money, and a one-year SCC online subscription, followed by Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, as the first runners-up.
