Manav Rachna student among 5 selected for ‘Technical Student Program’ at CERN

NEW DELHI, JULY 3: Aashlesha Sharma, a student of 3rd year B. Tech – Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies (MRIIRS) has been selected as a Technical Student at CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research), the world's largest Nuclear and Particle Physics Laboratory (best known as operator of the Large Hadron Collider) situated at Geneva, Switzerland on a monthly stipend of 3283 CHF (~ 2,24,130.05 INR) and travel allowances.

Only five Indian students have been selected for this prestigious program. These include three students from IITs, one student from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and one from MRIIRS.

At CERN, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. It is renowned for the discoveries that include 'God Particle', 'World Wide Web', ‘LHC’, Charge Parity Violation’ and many other Noble Prize winning inventions.

Aashlesha Sharma has a keen interest in the field of Astrophysics and related sciences. She will be working at CERN for a year under the supervision of Eric Montesinos, Team Leader- Radio Frequency at CERN.
