MARB president BN Gangadhar appointed officiating chairman of NMC

BN Gangadhar has been appointed for three months till a regular appointment of chairman. He will take charge on September 25.
NEW DELHI : BN Gangadhar has been appointed as the officiating chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Gangadhar is the president of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC. He has replaced Suresh Sharma whose tenure ended today.
The ministry of health and family welfare has given the officiating charge to the MARB president for three months or until further order till a regular appointment of chairman is made for the commission. Gangadhar would take charge as the officiating chairman of NMC on September 25.
“The matter has been examined in this Ministry and it has been decided with the approval of the competent authority to assign Officiating Charge for the post of Chairman, NMC to Dr. B. N. Gangadhar, President, Medical Assessment and Rating Board w.e.f. 25.09.2023 till a regular appointment is made or for a period of three months or until further order whichever is earlier,” read an official letter from the health ministry.
“This issues with the approval of the Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare,” the ministry added.
Gangadhar served as the senior professor of psychiatry as well as director of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru. He studied MBBS from Bangalore Medical College and MD Psychiatry from NIMHANS and Doctor of Science from SVYASA University.
