NEET 2020: NTA is all set to hold medical exam after JEE Main

NEW DELHI: After the completion of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains, the National Testing Agency is now all set to conduct the national medical entrance test - National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on September 13, 2020. Both important engineering and medical entrance exams are being held in September month. JEE Main has begun from September 1 to 6, 2020, for admission to NITs, IITs and CFTIs across India.

NEET exam will be held for admission to 80,055 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 425 BVSc and AH seats. Also, students need to qualify the exam to study medicine abroad.

Through NTA press release, it has been confirmed that, as many as 15.97 lakh aspirants have registered for NEET UG. The medical entrance exam will be held in pen and paper based mode. Also, following the government's regulations and to maintain social distancing norms, NTA has hiked up the NEET centre to 3,843, which were only 2,546 previously.

NTA all set to conduct NEET 2020 amid COVID

NTA is geared up to organise NEET entrance exam after successfully conducting JEE Main for engineering. The nation-wide exams were postponed twice due to COVID-19 pandemic. The authority has confirmed to follow all the rules and regulations related to coronavirus advisory and provide arrangements.

A senior official said, "For ensuring social distancing outside the examination hall, the entry and exit of candidates has been staggered. Adequate arrangements have also been made outside the examination centres to enable candidates stand with adequate social distancing while waiting," reports the Press Trust of India.

As per the official, NTA has released a COVID advisory mentioning guidelines on do's and don'ts, social distancing norms during and inside the exam hall. Also the authority has written to all state governments for support in local movements of candidates to reach at the exam centre.

In the guidelines, NTA has indicated the steps taken to deal with the coronavirus like providing hand sanitizers, touch-free checking of admit cards using barcode, alternate seating plan, staggered entry of candidates and others.

Masks to be provided at the exam centre

As reported by PTI, the NTA official said "While all the candidates will be asked to go to the exam centres with masks and sanitisers, once they enter the centre, they will have to use the masks provided by the examination authority. "Each candidate will be offered a three-ply mask at the time of entry and are expected to wear the same during the examination in order to avoid any form of unfair means at the time of examination."

The NEET-UG was originally scheduled for May 3, but was pushed to July 26 and then scheduled for September 13.
