NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) is likely to begin the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG 2025) registration for admission to UG medical education in all medical colleges in India. Aspirants who wish to appear in the single-largest medical entrance exam will have to fill the NEET application form through the official website, neet.nta.nic.in.

The NEET registration form 2025 is expected to be made available today, January 31, as per media reports. However, the NTA has not announced the NEET UG registration dates yet. In its latest notification, the testing agency had informed candidates that the application process for NEET and the information bulletin will be available “soon” on the official portal.
The NTA has also issued a series of clarifications regarding the conduct of the exam. Despite the high-level expert committee’s recommendation to hold the exam in hybrid mode, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has decided to conduct the single largest medical entrance exam in the traditional pen and paper mode.

The NEET UG was marred with several irregularities including paper leak and impersonation. Multiple arrests were made in Bihar. Earlier this month, the CBI registered a fresh case against 8 for alleged impersonation, cheating and forgery of documents. The principal of SRDAV public school, one of the centres for the NEET exam held on May 5 last year, has alleged that the candidates' biometrics showed four impersonators were taking the exam in place of registered students.
The NTA is expected to announce the NEET registration date soon. Students will have to fill the application form by providing personal and academic details such as educational qualification, category, address, personal details. They are also required to upload all necessary documents and pay the requisite application fee.
Students will have to upload the following documents in the specified format while filling the NEET UG application form 2025.
The NTA has reverted to pre-COVID exam format by removing the optional questions from the NEET UG question paper. Candidates will now have to answer all 180 questions - 45 each in physics and chemistry and 90 questions in biology. The NTA had introduced the optional question in section B during COVID-19 pandemic as a one-time measure. As per the revised format, the NEET exam will be held for a duration of 3 hours.
The NEET UG registration fees vary for categories. It is mandatory to pay the application fee to successfully complete the registration process.

A total of 1,08,940 MBBS seats will be filled through the NEET UG 2025. As per the data shared by the health ministry, Tamil Nadu has the highest number of 5,275 MBBS seats, followed by Maharashtra with 5,125.
The NEET UG syllabus 2025 was notified by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC). Students will be able to download the NEET syllabus PDF through the official website, nmc.org.in.

The NTA has clarified that APAAR ID, a 12-digit identity number for consolidating their academic achievements, is not mandatory for NEET registration.
