To answer each question, candidates must select the option that represents the correct or most appropriate answer. The marking scheme will be applied as follows: for every correct or most appropriate response, four marks (+4) will be awarded. In case an incorrect option is marked, one mark will be deducted (-1). Questions left unanswered will carry no marks (0).

In cases where a question has multiple correct options, it will be handled as follows: if more than one option is correct, candidates who have selected any of the correct options will be awarded four marks (+4). If all the options are found to be correct, all candidates who have attempted the question will receive four marks (+4). If none of the options is correct, or if a question is found to be incorrect or dropped, all candidates who appeared for the exam will be awarded four marks (+4), regardless of whether they attempted the question or not.

The test will be of three hours duration. PwD/PwBD candidates with a physical limitation in writing will be granted an additional compensatory time of one hour for the three-hour examination, regardless of whether they avail the facility of a scribe or not.

NEET UG 2026 will be conducted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Candidates choosing a regional language will receive the test booklet in both English and the selected regional language. For example, if a candidate opts for Tamil (among the 13 languages), the question paper will be provided in English and Tamil.

NTA, on its official WhatsApp channel and 'X' handle, is busting one myth related to NEET UG 2026 at a time. Candidates should not carry calculators to exam hall as it is not allowed.

NEET UG 2026 result may be used by various Central and State Government bodies as per their respective eligibility criteria, regulations, and guidelines. It will also be applicable for admission to B.Sc. (H) Nursing courses based on prescribed norms. Additionally, NEET (UG) 2026 scores will be considered for admission to BVSc & AH courses under the 15% VCI quota in recognised veterinary colleges, with data accessed through MCC of DGHS, MoHFW.

Appearing for and qualifying in NEET UG 2026 does not guarantee admission to undergraduate medical courses. Admission to recognised medical institutions depends on meeting eligibility criteria, securing a qualifying rank in the merit list, medical fitness, and other requirements set by the Government of India, states, universities, and respective medical, dental, Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy colleges.

Earlier, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released exam city intimation slips to inform registered candidates about their allotted test city. NTA noted that 99.2% candidates were assigned their first-choice city. While the intimation slip only specifies the exam city, the admit card will contain complete and essential details required for appearing in the examination.

Candidates will undergo mandatory and thorough frisking using high-sensitivity metal detectors before entering the examination centre. Additional identity checks, including biometric and face authentication, as well as videography, may also be conducted.

Candidates are not allowed to carry instruments, geometry or pencil box, handbag, purse, any kind of paper/stationery/textual material (printed or written material), eatables and water (loose or packed), mobile phone/earphone/microphone/pager, calculator, document, slide rules, log tables, camera, tape recorder, electronic watches with calculator facilities, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/devices in the examination hall/room.

NTA will issue the admit cards for over 22 lakh NEET UG 2026 aspirants tomorrow, on April 26. The exam will be conducted on next Sunday, May 3 in a single shift between 2 pm and 5 pm.

Ahead of NEET UG 2026 , NMC directed medical colleges to stay vigilant, avoid granting leave on May 2 and May 3, and sensitise students against malpractice to ensure fair conduct. Additionally, colleges have been asked to strictly monitor campus activities and coordinate with authorities to prevent any irregularities during the examination period.

SATHEE, an initiative of the Ministry of Education, aims to provide equitable access to quality education for all students, especially those who may otherwise have limited access to quality coaching and academic support. 571 Puducherry government school students are currently undergoing NEET coaching under a special initiative of the Education Department, with academic support from SATHEE resource persons, along with notes, weekly mock tests, and daily practise tests.

NTA will issue the NEET UG 2026 admit cards on the official website neet.nta.nic.in. Once the link is made active, aspirants will be able to download the same on the latest link in 'public notices' tab.

The NTA will prepare and announce the NEET (UG) result and All India Rank based on the rules set by the respective authorities—NMC/DCI for MBBS and BDS, NCISM for BAMS, BSMS, and BUMS, and NCH for BHMS.
