NEET 2021: NTA clarifies on age factor in tie-breaking for 2nd round counselling

NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will soon announce the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 counselling dates on the official website mcc.nic.in. The NTA in a recent notice has clarified the age factor in the tie-breaking method for NEET UG counselling 2021 . Candidates can also download their NEET scorecard 2021 again, the notice read.
The NEET 2021 first ranking was released without considering tie-breaking criteria of age. As a result, three candidates shared the top rank in the medical entrance examinaton and the fifth rank was shared by 12 candidates. However, the NTA informed that the second NEET counselling 2021 will take into account the age factor for the tie-breaking method as unique ranks are required.
As per the official statement, “The first ‘All India Rank for Counseling’ is without the tie-breaking criteria of age. However, since for the purpose of counseling unique ranks are required, the second ‘All India Rank for Counseling’ also takes into account the tie-breaking criteria of age.”
For more clarity, the NTA said that in place of the first ‘All India Rank for Counseling’, a new field “NEET All India Rank” has been mentioned, the notice read.

The authorities also said that the candidates can download the NEET scorecards 2021 again if they wish from the official website.
Last year, a total of 7,71,500 students had qualified for the NEET 2021 counselling process. Through NEET counselling 2021, around 83,075 MBBS, 26,949 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 603 BVSc seats will be offered. This year, the BSc Nursing admissions will also be done through NEET scores.
