Download nowThe Supreme Court will hear the plea seeking transparency in the NEET PG 2025 exam on September 4 after the petitioners sought urgent hearing citing that the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will commence the admission process for All India Quota (AIQ) seats on or after September 5.
A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by NEET PG aspirants soon after the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) announced its decision to publish the answer key. Although candidates and doctors’ groups welcomed the decision, they expressed dissatisfaction following a sudden U-turn, in which the board decided not to display the questions.
The NBEMS on August 21 announced that it will publish the NEET PG answer key along with a response sheet and questions for the first time. However, it immediately issued another notice clarifying that it will only issue question IDs instead of full questions asked in the exam.
This, the doctors said, will not be “transparent enough” and argued that display of NEET PG 2025 answer key material only with reference to a Question IDs of master set of question paper, correct answer key and responses marked, “makes the disclosure effectively non-verifiable for the average candidate and defeating transparency in a high stakes national exam”.

“On 27.08.2025 Respondent no. 2 has issued a notice for availability of All India seats from 5th September 2025 and the counselling/allotment of seats is going to be started on first week of September, i.e. 5th September, 2025 and if the counselling process will start then the purpose for filing the present writ petition will become infructuous,” the petition read.
The top court bench which recently heard the matter has referred the NEET PG transparency case to the bench of Justice Pardiwala, as a previous order related to transparency was passed by him.
Now that the medical entrance exam results and AIQ merit list are out, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the NEET PG counselling dates on the official website, mcc.nic.in. The Kerala Commission of Entrance Examinations (Kerala CEE) has also published the Kerala NEET PG counselling guidelines and informed students that the counselling schedule will be issued soon.
