A day after release of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Under Graduate (NEET UG) results, a candidate took to social media over alleged discrepancies between the Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) sheet uploaded by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the answers she claims to have marked during re-NEET exam. In a series of posts on X, Ibtesham Nasar said she expected to score around 595 marks in re-NEET UG 2026 examination based on her responses. The post reads, "However, the result declared my score to be around 60. When NTA uploaded my OMR, I was shocked. The OMR didn't match the answers I marked during the exam." Sharing OMR sheet on social media, she wrote, "The uploaded OMR contains a completely different bubble pattern from what I actually filled.' She further claims that while she had intentionally left 12 questions unanswered to avoid negative marking, the uploaded OMR showed responses marked for every question.

Nasar said she compared the uploaded OMR with the responses she had marked on her question paper during the examination and found that many answers did not match. Calling it a serious discrepancy, she urged the NTA to conduct an immediate investigation.

Her posts have drawn attention on social media, with several users sharing similar concerns. One user claimed that his sister had expected around 520 marks but received a significantly lower score.

Challenge against answer key

The candidate also claimed that she challenged nearly every disputed response in the uploaded OMR by paying approximately Rs 27,800 in challenge fees at Rs 200 per question. The post reads, "I challenged almost every incorrect response in the uploaded OMR, spending Rs 27,800 in challenge fees(₹200 per question). Despite this, I have received no response from NTA."

She further said she emailed the NTA with her admit card and screenshots of the uploaded OMR explaining the alleged mismatch but had not received a reply. Further, Nasar requested the NTA to verify her original physical OMR sheet, investigate whether there had been an OMR mismatch or exchange, and ensure that the correct answer sheet was evaluated.

She also said she has been preparing for the NEET examination since completing Class 12 in 2022 and argued that years of preparation should not be affected by what she believes could be an administrative error. Nasar added that she is willing to publicly share her mock test scores from coaching institutes, claiming she had consistently scored above 450 marks.

The National Testing Agency has not yet publicly responded to Nasar's allegations. The claims made by the candidate and other social media users could not be independently verified.

A NEET candidate, Avinish Shrivastava, allegedly received the OMR sheet of another candidate, Ajit Singh, via email from the NTA. According to Avinish's father, they have written to the NTA regarding the apparent mix-up. The father told media that NTA said it would look into the matter and update them.

Meanwhile, the Students' Federation of India (SFI) has demanded the immediate scrapping of the NTA, alleging inconsistencies in the reported NEET UG 2026 attendance data. According to the organisation, 22,79,743 candidates registered for the May 3 examination, but only 19,99,895 appeared for the re-examination held on June 21. SFI also alleged that 21 students died by suicide during the examination process and accused the NTA of lacking credibility and accountability.
