Download nowThe National Medical Commission (NMC) has again revised the MBBS and BDS seats offered for admission to medical colleges. The earlier seat matrix listed 1,28,925 medical seats, which has now been revised to 1,28,875, showing a reduction of 50 seats.
A total of 11,350 new seats have been added in the academic year 2025-26. The total count of medical seats now stands at 1,28,875, including AIIMS and JIPMER.
However, the earlier, revised MBBS seat matrix published by the NMC showed an addition of 11,400 seats, making a difference of 100 seats compared to the previously displayed seat matrix. During the renewal for the academic year 2025-26, 456 seats have been reduced.
NMC said there was some typographical errors while updating the seats of Swaminarayan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Gujarat and Viraat Ramayan Institute of Medical Sciences (New Establishment), which were corrected.

NEET UG Counselling 2025: Stray round
Those who were not allotted a seat in previous rounds of counselling can apply in the stray round seat allotment. As per the NEET UG counselling 2025 schedule , the stray round registration will begin on November 4, and the tentative seat matrix by participating institutions will be displayed.
Candidates who apply for NEET UG counselling 2025 in the stray round will have to report to the allotted college along with the required documents to confirm the admissions. Candidates who fail to join the allotted seat during the stray round will be debarred from the NEET exam for one year, along with the forfeiture of fees.
