NLU 10th Convocation 2023: 167 UG, PG, doctoral students awarded law degrees

NLU Convocation 2023: 84 undergraduate, 78 postgraduate, and 5 doctoral students got degrees.
NEW DELHI : The National Law University, Delhi awarded law degrees to a total of 167 students during its 10th convocation 2023. Among awardees were 84 undergraduate, 78 postgraduate, and five doctoral graduates. Students also received gold medals, vice-chancellor’s medals and cash prizes.
During the event, NLU released three journals – Journal of National Law University Delhi (faculty Journal), Journal of Victimology and Victim Justice (a flagship journal) and NLUD journal of Legal Studies (student's journal).
Professor GS Bajpai, vice-chancellor addressed the students and said, “Legal profession is not just a career. It is a calling to serve and make a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and the community at large. The power of law lies not only in its ability to enforce rules but in its capacity to bring about positive changes.”

He highlighted the university’s achievements in the past year with introduction of schemes including the National Scholars-in-Residence Programme and International Visitors Programme to encourage national and international research collaboration, Eklavya Scheme to universalize legal education, Abhyasa Scheme to institutionalize practical learning in a class-room and Utkarsh Scheme to acknowledge the contribution of faculty and staff.
The VC informed that NLU also launched a PhD programme in social sciences. Professor Bajpai further congratulated students on their achievements in competitive exams including Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam, Judicial Services exam and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) saying it’s a “testament not only to their exceptional academic capabilities but their steadfast perseverance to achieve their goals”.
Moreover, VC informed that six Chief Minister’s fellowships with a value of Rs 50,000 per month will be awarded to graduate students who will collaborate with government departments in policy-making.
Justice S Ravindra Bhat, judge, Supreme Court of India and visitor, NLU Delhi was the chief guest at the event. Atishi, education minister of Delhi and Kailash Gahlot, minister of law, justice and legislative affairs graced the ceremony as special guests of honour. The degrees were conferred upon students by Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, chief justice, High Court of Delhi and chancellor of NLU Delhi.
