Odisha government increases pre-matric scholarship for SC, ST boarders
Odisha govt has increased pre-matric scholarship amount from Rs 750 to Rs 950 for boys, and from Rs 850 to Rs 1,000 for girl students.

NEW DELHI: The Odisha government has increased pre matric scholarship for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe boarders. For boys, the scholarship amount has been increased from Rs 750 to Rs 950. Whereas, for girl students the scholarship amount has been hiked to Rs 1,000 which was Rs 850 earlier.
“The Govt of Odisha has enhanced the prematric scholarship for ST & SC boarders from Rs 750 to Rs 950 for boys & from Rs 800 to Rs 1000 for girls. The scheme would benefit more than 5 lakh ST & SC boarders. An expenditure amounting to Rs 490.00 crores would be incurred annually,” the Information and Public Relations Department, Odisha tweeted.

The scholarship is meant for mess management in the hostels and aims at the educational and holistic development of SC and ST boarders. Millet based food items will be introduced in the food menu to address nutritional needs of the students, as per ANI report.

Pre-matric scholarships are given to all the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students studying in the residential schools of SC and ST and Mass Education (ME) schools and high schools of School and Mass Education Department including the hostels of Special ST hostels of SC and ST Development Department.
