Offline semester exams in all universities notice is fake: PIB warns students

NEW DELHI: A fake notice on offline exams in all universities for semester exams has been circulating on social media, PIB Fact Check warned students. It said that the University Grants Commission (UGC) has not issued any such notice.

“A public notice regarding offline examinations in universities is circulating on social media and claims to be issued by the UGC,” the government agency said. It also provided the UGC official website link, ugc.ac.in/ugc_notices , for students to check the latest updates on semester exams and other important announcements.

“As all the colleges are operating while maintaining Covid-19 protocols, offline exams can be taken at the home centres,” the fake notice read. However, the UGC has not issued any notice on offline exams for semester exams. Students are advised to keep checking ugc.ac.in for any update on exams.

Meanwhile, the students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow have intensified their online campaign and sought the intervention of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adiyanath to cancel the offline exams due to Omicron fears. Students have started flooding social media platforms with tweets after the chief minister said about the fear of third wave of Covid-19.

In another news, Anna University had also announced to conduct offline semester examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students of engineering which left several private engineering colleges unhappy.
