QS World University Rankings 2024: Chandigarh University replaces JGU as top Indian private university

CU has improved its rank to get listed in the top 771-780 universities while it ranked in top 801-1000 last year.
NEW DELHI : Chandigarh University has replaced OP Jindal Global University as the top private university in India according to the QS world university rankings 2024. The university jumped to a spot in the top 771-780 universities this year as compared to last year’s ranking in 801-1000 range.
“This latest accomplishment adds to the university’s growing recognition on the international stage,” the university said in a statement. The Punjab-based university added that it has secured positions in the QS Asia rankings, last year’s world rankings, and the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings. In NIRF ranking 2023, CU grabbed the 27th rank.
The university went on to say that it has grabbed “distinguished” positions in different categories and established its position among the top private universities in the country.

Talking about the improvement in rank, the university said, “This notable achievement is a testament to the university’s commitment to providing quality education and fostering academic excellence.”
According to the QS world ranking, the student-faculty ratio in CU is 11 and the university inhabits over 2,000 international students. The total number of faculty is 2,418 which includes 507 international faculty.
QS world university rankings 2024 introduced three new metrics to evaluate the universities – sustainability, employment outcomes, and international research network.
