The cold wave affects government and private schools across Jaipur. Teachers continue duties and examinations proceed as scheduled, with similar closures in Jharkhand and Tripura.
The District Collector and District Magistrate, Jaipur, has announced that students from pre-primary to Class 5 will be on leave from January 6 to January 10. Students from Class 6 to Class 8 will have holidays from January 6 to January 8. Teachers are required to attend schools as usual, and examinations will continue as scheduled.
The holiday schedule for students in government and private schools in the district has been issued in view of a cold wave forecast by the Meteorological Department. Authorities have asked schools to take necessary precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of students during this period.
“The District Education Officer (Secondary/Primary Education), Jaipur, is therefore instructed to ensure compliance with this order in government and private schools in Jaipur, in coordination with the Chief Block Education Officers.Non-compliance by any government or private school will be dealt with under the provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2003,” the official notice said.
Cold wave prompts school closures
Earlier, the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (RBSE) had declared winter vacations for all schools from December 25 to January 5. Similar steps have been taken in other states affected by the cold wave.
In Jharkhand, schools in Ranchi and Jamshedpur will remain closed till January 6, while the state-wide directive extends closures from January 6 to 8 for students from pre-nursery to Class 12. Teachers and non-teaching staff in government schools are required to report for non-academic duties.
In Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha announced that all schools, including government, government-aided, and private institutions, will remain closed from January 6 to 10 due to extreme cold.
