Try NowNational Testing Agency (NTA) has scheduled the Re-NEET UG 2026 examination for June 21 after scrapping the May 3 test amid question paper leak. During a recent press briefing, Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that NEET is expected to move progressively towards a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format in the coming years.

The cancellation has impacted over 22 lakh candidates seeking admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and allied medical programmes.
Meanwhile, the NTA has activated a correction facility for candidates appearing in the re-examination, allowing them to update address details and revise their preferred exam city options. The correction process will remain available till May 21.
The revised NEET UG 2026 admit cards are likely to be issued approximately one week before the exam date. Earlier, the Centre transferred the probe into the alleged malpractice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) after the NTA withdrew the examination over concerns regarding compromise of the paper.

NEET Paper Leak: CBI investigation
According to a Hindustan Times report, the CBI informed a Delhi court that investigators suspect the alleged leak may have originated from within the NTA system itself .
The agency reportedly claimed that accused Shubham Khairnar received access to the leaked paper through a Pune-based contact connected to an alleged “NTA source”. Officials are now examining the possible involvement of insiders and public officials in the network.
The CBI has so far detained multiple accused from states including Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Haryana. During searches, investigators reportedly recovered leaked documents, chat records and electronic evidence.
The agency also informed the court that a PDF containing nearly 500 to 600 questions had allegedly circulated on Telegram from April 29, days before the exam, and around 180 questions were said to match the final NEET UG 2026 paper.
NTA NEET 2026: Re-exam guidelines
The official guidelines for NTA NEET re-exam are as follows:
- Candidates are permitted to modify only their current address and preferred first and second examination city options.
- The NTA has clarified that no extra payment or correction fee will be charged for updating exam city preferences.
- Other details submitted in the application form cannot be edited during this correction window.
- The language or medium of the examination selected at the time of registration will remain unchanged and cannot be modified.
- Applicants who are satisfied with their previously selected city choices are not required to take any action, as the earlier preferences will automatically remain valid.
- Even if candidates retain the same city option, the exact examination venue may change since centres will be allotted based on availability, seating capacity and administrative arrangements within the chosen city.

Candidates can update their present address and modify their preferred exam city choices by visiting the official NEET portal and accessing the correction window link.
After logging in with their application number and password, applicants will have to edit the relevant section, choose their revised first and second city preferences, verify the details carefully and submit the updated form.
