NEW DELHI : Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu is all set to conduct Tamil Nadu Class 12 exams from May 3 to 21, 2021. However, as per reports, several schools have requested the Tamil Nadu government to postpone the Class 12 board exams. The reason for the request of postponement of TN Class 12 exams 2021 is the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the state.
According to a Times of India report, B Purushothaman, senior principal of Everwin Group of School said, “There is only four weeks’ time for board exams to commence. Covid-19 cases are expected to peak around that time. We feel it is not advisable to conduct the exams as per the present schedule. There is time till June to conduct the board exams.”
A headmaster from a government school told the TOI that the health of the students may be at risk as the revision test dates are just after the polls. In addition to this, the government has also allowed the COVID-19 patients to vote which can be riskier for the students.
“The second wave is affecting even the teenagers. Parents children are expecting the board exams to be postponed to June till the Covid-19 cases subside,” Senior principal of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Tambaram said, as per the report.
Students must note that until now, there is no official announcement of the postponement of TN Class 12 exams 2021. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare for the examination accordingly and take all the precautionary measures to avoid COVID-19 infection.
Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had announced on February 25 that students of Classes 9, 10 and 11 will not have examinations this year. The decision was taken keeping in mind the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
