NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan reviewed the status of reopening of schools across the country with the senior officials of the department of school education and literacy, the ministry of education said in a social media post.
Pradhan also made an assessment of the roadmap for the vaccination of all teaching and non-teaching staff in schools by September.
“Shiksha Mantri Shri dpradhanbjp reviewed the status of schools reopening across the country with senior officials of Deptt. of School Education & Literacy. He also took stock of the roadmap for vaccinating all teaching & non-teaching staff in schools by the month of September,” the education ministry tweeted.

Recently, the department of school education and literacy held a meeting with the states and Union Territories to discuss the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) guidelines on school safety.

During the meeting, the school education and literacy secretary Anita Karwal also put light on the vaccination of school staff. Karwal asked the health and education secretaries of the states and UTs to complete the first dose of vaccination of the teaching and non-teaching staff by the month of September.
Karwal also said that those who have received their first dose should get their second dose in September.
DOSEL further asked the states and UTs to design a roadmap at the district level for the vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff in schools. Schools were also asked to update their status on vaccination on a Google tracker.

Several states like Delhi, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu have decided to reopen schools from September 1 with covid-19 protocols and precautionary measures. They have also asked officials to get teachers vaccinated on priority.
Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya also requested all the states to get teachers vaccinated before the Teachers’ Day on September 5.
The Maharashtra government also organised a special vaccination camp for the school staff in Thane from August 27.
