UP Board Exams 2024: 5 students caught using unfair means; over 3 lakh absent on day 1

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has successfully conducted day 1 of UP board Class 10, 12 exams 2024. The UP board exams were held at 8,265 examination centres under the surveillance of CCTV cameras equipped with voice recorders. Along with this, the exams were administered safely in 8 jail centers established for candidates detained in jail.
In the first shift, Hindi and Elementary Hindi paper was conducted for Class 10 and Military Science for Class 12 while in the second shift, Commerce paper was held for Class 10 and Hindi, General Hindi paper was for Class 12.
As per the board, out of 29,43,786 students registered in the first shift, 2,03,299 were absent and out of the total 24,67,715 candidates registered in the second shift examination, 1,30,242 remained absent. Thus, a total of 3,33,541 candidates were absent in the examination of both shifts.

"According to the information received from the divisions/districts via telephone/email, no untoward situation arose in any district during the examination and the examination was conducted in a fair, cheating and peaceful manner", UP board official release read.
5 candidates were caught using unfair means in the high school examination, 4 were boys and 1 girl. A first information report was lodged against 7 pseudo candidates caught in the first shift examination and 1 center administrator.
In view of the security of question papers, online intensive monitoring of strong rooms and examination centers was done for the first time this year by setting up command and control rooms in the Council of Secondary Education, Headquarters Prayagraj and all the five regional offices of the Council.
