Uttar Pradesh continues to be one of the major centres for MBBS admissions, with both government and private medical colleges witnessing tough competition during counselling every year. Previous year counselling trends show that leading government institutions such as King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh University of Medical Sciences (UPUMS), Saifai remained among the most sought-after medical colleges in the state.

Previous year counselling trends indicate that top government medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh closed admissions at comparatively lower NEET ranks due to high demand among candidates. Institutions including KGMU Lucknow, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, GSVM Medical College Kanpur and Sarojini Naidu Medical College Agra dominate student preference lists.

Candidates from the General and EWS categories were required to secure at least the 50th percentile, while OBC, SC and ST candidates needed the 40th percentile to qualify.
