Several candidates gathered at deputy CM’s residence demanding appointment of reserved categories in line with Allahabad HC order.
NEW DELHI : Thousands of teaching aspirants gathered around the residence of Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Maurya, protesting the delay in the appointment of 69,000 teachers. The protestors are demanding the new selection list for UP teacher recruitment following Allahabad High Court’s order on reservation and sacking of officers who made the previous list.
On August 17, the Lucknow bench of the high court cancelled the selection lists issued in June 2020 and January 2022 for not following the reservation policy and ordered the state government to prepare a fresh appointment list . In its verdict, the Allahabad HC observed that the Yogi government followed two different selection process for the assistant teacher recruitment in 2018 and 2019 leading to an anomaly. It also allowed moving reserved category candidates to the general category if they qualify. The judgment received praise from the deputy CM among others.
Taking to social media, youth leader Amrendra Patel Bahubali said, “69,000 teacher recruitment reservation scam happened, double bench order came but still appointments are not being given. The High Court has also admitted that there has been a reservation anomaly Thousands of people gathered at the residence of mother Keshav Prasad Maurya ji.”
Reservation scam in UP teacher recruitment
Commenting on a post of deputy CM where he expressed joy over 49 lakh followers, a teacher said, “More than half of them do not consider you good for the future of OBC, SC because you cannot ask even one question regarding the scam to the government being the Deputy Chief Minister, then what will be the use of such popularity?”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), a user remarked, “This dictatorial attitude will take the government to the abyss. Adding insult to injury.”
“First make a reservation scam. Then spend lakhs of rupees in court for 6 years. Don't give justice if it is proven to be a scam. When you go to seek justice, you are beaten with sticks,” said another user.
