NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) prelims 2024 on February 18. The commission has informed about the downloading of UPSC ESE prelims 2024 when it’s out at upsconline.nic.in and issued other instructions for the exam.

“Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Engineering Services (preliminary) Examination, 2024 on 18th February, 2024 (Sunday) all over India. The Commission will upload the e-Admit Card for the convenience of the admitted candidates on its website (http://upsconline.nic.in). The admitted candidates are advised to download their e-Admit Card and take a printout as soon as the same is uploaded on the website,” the commission said in an official notice.

The commission informed that paper admit cards will not be issued and asked candidates to follow the instructions provided along the admit card.

UPSC ESE 2024 preliminary examination will be held in two shifts – forenoon session from 10 am to 12 pm and the afternoon session from 2 pm to 5 pm.

UPSC ESE 2024: Instructions for candidates

Some of the instructions issued by the commission are given below:

  • Candidates will have to produce the printout of their e-Admit card at the allotted exam venue for appearing at the exam A candidate, who does not produce their e-Admit card for checking at the allotted venue, shall not be allowed to take the Examination.
  • Candidates are also required to carry along the photo ID card, whose number is mentioned in the e-Admit Card, in each session.
  • The entry of candidates to the exam centre will be closed 30 minutes prior to the exam and no candidates will be allowed to enter after the closure of the gate.
  • Candidates will have to bring black ball point pen for the exam.
  • Candidates are not allowed to carry any valuables or costly items, mobile phones, smart or digital watches, other IT gadgets, books, bags etc.
  • Candidates will be allowed to carry only e-Admit card, pen, pencil, identity proof, photographs and any other items as specified in the instructions of the e-Admit card to the venue. No other items shall be allowed to be taken inside the venue.
  • Candidates can only bring normal or analog wrist watches inside the exam hall. Watches fitted with any special accessory and smart or digital watches are strictly prohibited.
  • Possession or use of mobile phones (even in switch off mode) and other electronic or communication devices or any other incriminating material (notes on e-Admit cards, papers, erasers etc.) or violation of any instruction shall entail disciplinary action which may include cancellation of candidature of candidate, filing of FIR or police complaint against the candidate, prohibition from appearing in subsequent session(s) of the examination. In addition, the commission may take any other appropriate action as per provisions contained in the exam rules.

Candidates will be able to submit representations, if any, on the questions asked in the UPSC ESE exam to the commission through the “Online Question Paper Representation Portal (QPRep)” between February 19 and 25, 2024. “No representation through any other mode shall be accepted after 25th February, 2024 by the Commission,” UPSC said.
