Uttar Pradesh government imparts skill training to 61,000 students under Praveen scheme

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh government said more than 61,000 students have been imparted skill training in various courses under the Praveen Yojana for students from Class 9 to 12. The state ministry for vocational education, skill development and entrepreneurship Launched in 2022-23, under the UP secondary education directorate and UP Skill Development Mission, the praveen scheme aims to transform education into a tool for both knowledge and productivity.

UP minister of vocational training, skill development and entrepreneurship Kapil Dev Aggarwal told the Times of India the project was started in 150 schools across the state with 20,582 students. The initiative was also started in Kasturba Gandhi Girls School with 3,450 students participating in the training in 2022-23. In the 2023-24 academic year, the scheme was extended to 315 government secondary schools.

Under the scheme, students who have registered for UP board Class 10 and 12 exams are eligible for the scheme. Students revieice free training from Class 9 to 12 in courses, such as IT, electronics, beauty, healthcare, apparel and accounting.

This year the students will be able to apply for 11 courses including, IT, mechanical, electronics, electrical, automobile, beauty and wellness, trades under One District One Programme, retail, mining, fitter and food industry.

The ANI reported that students receiving training under Praveen Scheme are given training by private training centres in the school itself. These trainers are certified under the Training of Teachers (TOT) programme and registered under the Skill Development Mission.

If students stop their studies after completing 10th or 12th class, they can get job opportunities through the certificates obtained from Project Praveen Training, the ANI added.
