The board is giving the opportunity to the candidates awaiting the WBJEE 2025 results in order to implement the advisory issued by the higher education department after the SC order. WBJEE Board informed that the verification of the documents submitted in support of the social category claimed by the candidate will be verified by the allotted institute at the time of BTech admissions .
The final decision on WBJEE result and WBJEE counselling 2025 for engineering admissions will be subject to the outcome of the pending legal proceedings, the board added.
WBJEE 2025 was conducted on April 27 for admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering, technology, architecture, and pharmacy.
Supreme Court order on OBC list
The top court on July 28 stayed the Calcutta High Court's decision that had stalled the implementation of a revised list of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) notified by the West Bengal government.
A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justices K Vinod Chandran and NV Anjaria observed, “Prima facie, the high court order seems to be erroneous,”. The apex court was hearing the appeal of the state government.
On June 17, the Calcutta HC ordered an interim stay on notifications issued by the state government with regard to reservations to 140 sub-sections under OBC-A and OBC-B categories. The West Bengal government had prepared the new list after the high court, in May last year, quashed the inclusion of as many as 77 communities in the OBC list.
