Woxsen University students launch DISHA robot at Global Impact Summit 2022

NEW DELHI: Woxsen University Hyderabad BTech and BDes students developed DISHA (Discrete Interactive Smart Heterogeneous Agent) robot and launched it at the Global Impact Summit 2022.
According to Manjit Kumar Reddy, a BTech data science student at the Woxsen University who is part of the project, the robot consists of a camera for live streaming, motion sensors with a head tracking feature, a programmed voice system to assist the user, a display for visual assistance, and a base with three Gear DC Motors for mobility, controlled by a joystick.
The DISHA team includes BTech student Manjith Kumar Reddy, and BDes product design students Rohan B Chandy and Paresh Mistry. The team was mentored by Kiran Ravulakollu dean of the School of Technology, P Swami Sairam, chair of Research (CMR) and assistant professor at the School of Business, and Surya Teja Bachu assistant professor at the School of Arts and Design.
The DISHA robot project by Woxsen University students was funded by the WoU SEED Research Grant, initiated by the research and development department of Woxsen University. The project is being implemented by the School of Technology and School of Arts and Design.

“DISHA includes 2 core modules i.e., functionalities in terms of technical aspects from the School of Technology and culminating interactive product design from the School of Arts and Design”, says Kiran Ravulakollu dean of School of Technology at the Woxsen University.
Rohan B Chandy, a BDes product design student of the 2019-23 batch at the Woxsen University said that they have worked towards developing a user-friendly functional form with an emphasis on ergonomics. "We attempted to give it a futuristic feel by bringing the future into the present," he said.
