NEW DELHI: A total of 140 students have been selected from over 6,000 who applied for the summer internship under the Delhi University (DU)’s Vice Chancellor Internship Scheme (VCIS) for the academic year 2024-25. The university conducted an orientation programme for the new batch today.
The office of Dean Students’ Welfare (DSW) received a total of 6,464 applications for the summer internship. Of total, 1,564 applicants with SGPA of 8.1 or more in the last exam were shortlisted for the GD. The Group Discussion was conducted in four parallel sessions for two and a half days, each student batch consisting of 10-12 applicants. 140 interns have been selected on the basis of their SGPA and GD performances.
The selected DU interns would be engaged in 45 different branches or sections of the university. The internship will be held from June 7, 2024 to August 6, 2024 with a stipend of Rs 10,500 per month.
DU VC professor Yogesh Singh was present during the event as the chief guest. Addressing the students, he said that there will be many difficulties in life, but it is very important to learn how to overcome them. The VC said that through the internship scheme, students will be helped to understand and learn this. During the orientation, he distributed badges to the students.
Last year, 7,000 students applied for the summer internship and 100 were selected. The interns were provided a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month. DU started the VC internship scheme from the academic year 2022-2023 with an aim to provide internship opportunities to its undergraduate and postgraduate students in the university.
