AP EAMCET 2022: Minimum qualifying marks in intermediate exams relaxed

NEW DELHI : The Department of Higher Education has relaxed the minimum qualifying marks in intermediate exams for Andhra Pradesh Engineering, Agriculture, Medicine Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET) 2022 as a one-time measure for the academic year 2022-23. Now, candidates who have obtained 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in either PCM (physics, chemistry, mathematics) or in all subjects in intermediate first year and second year exams will be considered eligible for admissions to engineering, pharma programmes.

“All the candidates are informed that minimum marks in the qualifying examination intermediate or equivalent for admissions into professional UG courses in engineering and pharma-D courses has been relaxed as one time measure for the academic year 2022-2023 as per the orders received from government of higher education (EC) Department,” said an official notification.

According to the existing rule, candidates should have passed the intermediate exam with 45% marks (40% for reserved categories) in PCM subjects and got AP EAPCET 2022 are considered eligible for admissions. “The total marks of all the subjects in the intermediate (both 1st year and 2nd year) have not been considered for calculation of the % of marks,” explained the official notification.

However, the higher education department has relaxed the criteria according to which the total marks of all subjects in intermediate exams will be considered to calculate the percentage. “The students who have obtained 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in group subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) subjects or the total marks of all the subjects in the intermediate (both 1st year and 2nd year) in the intermediate (both 1st year and 2nd year) or equivalent and obtained rank EAPCET 2022 are eligible for EAMCET or EAPCET admissions,” the AP EAPCET notification added.

Alternatively, only second year intermediate marks in PCM subjects only or the total marks of all the subjects will be considered for calculation of the percentage of marks. The first year intermediate or equivalent marks will not be considered.

“Hence, the students who have obtained the marks less than 45% (40% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories) in prescribed group subjects, whose certificates are auto verified or verified at HLCs through online and whose candidature is rejected earlier, and secured marks as per the above government orders are directed to approach nearest helpline centre for verification of certificates for getting eligibility,” the notification further read.
