NEW DELHI: Engineering courses are the most sought after undergraduate programmes after Class 12. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the Joint Entrance Examination-Main (JEE Main 2023) for admission to BTech, BE, BPlanning, BArch in IITs, NITs and other institutes. However, there are several institutes that provide admission to its engineering courses without JEE scores. If you are interested in pursuing engineering after Class 12 without JEE, here are your options.

The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) offer more than 16,000 seats, while National Institutes of Technology (NITs) admits over 21,000 students through the engineering entrance exam. And more than 10,000 seats are available in IIITs and other participating universities combined. However, every year nearly 8 lakh aspirants register for JEE Mains 2023.
Engineering admission through Class 12 marks
JEE Main 2023 is not the only gate-way entrance exam for admission, several engineering colleges hold their own entrance exams and some grant admission based on Class 12 marks alone.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions - TNEA 2023 is state entrance exam conducted by the Director of Technical Education (DoTE) for BTech admission in more than 440 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Candidates will have to register on the official website, tneaonline.org. Admission in the state engineering colleges will be done based on the marks secured by students in Class 12.
Rajasthan Engineering Admission Process (REAP 2023) - There will be no separate entrance exams but students who have qualified Class 12 or equivalent examination are eligible for REAP 2023. Those who have a diploma in engineering and technology will also be eligible. The admission is based on the merit list prepared by the Centre for Electronic Governance (CEG).
Punjab BTech Admission - The state admits students based on the scores secured in Class 12 or JEE Main. Candidates should have qualified Class 12 exam from a recognized board with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects and chemistry, computer science, biotechnology, biology as optional subjects. 85% of the total seats offered will be reserved for students from Punjab.
BTech admission without JEE Main 2023 score
Manipal Entrance Test 2023 - Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) conducts its own entrance exam, MET 2023, to offer admission to various programmes including BTech courses in the state. Recently, the last date to submit MET 2023 application form was extended till April 15. The MET exam dates 2023 are April 28 to 30, as per the schedule.
VIT Engineering Entrance Examination - Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) will be closing the registration window for VITEEE 2023 today, April 5, 2023. Those candidates who qualify the VITEEE exam 2023 will get admission to any one of the four VIT campuses - Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amravati. Students who have scored a minimum aggregate of 60% in physics, chemistry, and mathematics or biology in the Class 12 will be eligible to apply.
Gujarat Common Entrance Test - GUJCET 2023 was conducted on April 3. Based on the performance by the students, the GUJCET final merit list will be prepared by giving 60% weightage to Class 12 or equivalent exam and 40% weightage to the GUJCET percentile.
The GUJCET participating institutes will announce institute-wise cut-offs and candidates who have scored equal to or more than the cut-off will be given admission in BTech, BE or preferred courses offered by these colleges.
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination - The Board closed the WBJEE 2023 registration process on January 20. Candidates who applied will have to appear for the WB JEE entrance examination on April 30 for admission.
SRMJEEE 2023 - SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) conducts an exam every year to offer admission to various BTech courses by the institute. The SRM entrance exam 2023 will be conducted in three phases in remote proctored online mode. Phase 1 will be held from April 21 to 23, while phase 2 and 3 will be conducted from June 10 to 11 and July 22 to 23 respectively.
Amrita Entrance Examination - Engineering - Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham conducts AEEE 2023 for offering admission to the courses taught in the institute. As per the schedule announced for this year, phase 1 will be held from April 21 to 28 and phase 2 will be held from May 5 to 11, 2023.
