Over 450 school principals and counsellors from CBSE-affiliated schools across 26 cities in 10 states, along with a counsellor from the Indian School Al Ghubra, Muscat, Oman, participated. Orientation sessions were conducted in the presence of directors, senior officers of the board and panellists who shared insights for educators and counsellors through key presentations.
“The program also served as a collaborative platform to exchange insights into student guidance and career planning, enabling educators to better support students in making informed academic and career decisions,” the official press release said.
Focus on student support
The session included a Q&A round and a structured learning assessment. Of the participants, 387 completed the assessment, with 96.5 percent rating the programme a 4 or 5 and 95.9 percent confirming that their questions were answered. The segment helped principals and counselors clarify doubts, understand better, and reflect on their role in supporting students.
In his inaugural address, Himanshu Gupta, Secretary, CBSE, underscored the need for educators to remain updated on current trends and changes. “It is imperative that school principals and counsellors stay informed to effectively support their students in navigating higher education choices,” he said.

Support for students and parents
Rahul Singh, Chairman, CBSE, recognised the stress students face with multiple entrance exams and stated that the CUET Orientation Program, though not a complete solution, is a step in the right direction. “This initiative is part of CBSE’s larger effort to reach schools directly and understand the support students and parents require for holistic development and future-readiness,” he added.
According to the official press release, the CBSE CUET Orientation Program aims to equip educators with tools for guiding students through the admission process. “Ongoing feedback and collaboration from principals and counsellors will be crucial in further refining CBSE’s approach to student guidance,” the press release said.
