Central University VCs' conference on NEP 2020 goals from July 10

The vice chancellors’ conference will be held in Kevadia, Gujarat; will include DU, JNU, IGNTU among others
The Department of Higher Education (DoHE), Ministry of Education, will host a two-day vice chancellors’ conference on July 10 and July 11, 2025, for all central universities of India. The conference will focus on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and universities’ contribution towards the mission of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’.
The vice chancellors' conference will be held in Kevadia, Gujarat. Some of the universities participating are University of Delhi , Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU), Assam University, and Central University of Kashmir, among others. The conference is a part of the fifth anniversary of NEP 2020, which will be observed on July 29.
The VC conference will discuss aspects of higher education - teaching, learning, research and governance - via 10 thematic sessions that will cover the fundamentals of NEP 2020: Equity, accountability, quality, access and affordability. The topics include:
- Understanding and implementation of National Higher Education Qualifications Framework (NHEQF) and National Credit Framework (NCrF), with focus on Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP)
- Future of work – alignment of courses as per the requirement of future of jobs
- Digital education – SWAYAM , SWAYAM Plus, AAPAR, with focus on credit transfer
- University governance system - SAMARTH
- Promotion of equity - fostering an inclusive and equitable environment.
- Education in Indian languages and Indian Knowledge System, Bhartiya Bhasa Pustak Scheme
- Research and innovation initiatives including research foundations, fellowships, and centres of excellence
- Ranking and accreditation system
- Internationalisation including study in India
- Faculty development - Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme

NEP 2020 implementation plan
According to the official press statement, the two-day discussions will also include future NEP implementation in India by ensuring the following:
- Strategic alignment: To make sure that central universities are aligned with the policy’s next-phase goals.
- Peer learning and knowledge exchange: To foster dialogue among academic leaders on institutional innovations, enabling environments, and shared challenges.
- Forward planning and readiness: To prepare institutions for upcoming policy milestones, regulatory transitions, and the global academic landscape of 2047.
It will be attended by the Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan ; Minister of State for Education, Sukanta Majumdar; and senior officials from the Ministry.
