NEW DELHI: Children’s Day 2021 is celebrated every year on November 14, the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, children’s favorite, to pay tribute to the first prime minister of India and enlighten the citizens about children’s rights making the country a better place for the kids. On this day, schools and educational institutions organise various activities such as children’s day drawing competition, dance performances, songs, children’s day speech, children’s day quiz, etc. Children doll up in fancy clothes and indulge in the activities.

Prime minister Narendra Modi, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and various chief ministers and education ministers paid their tributes to Nehru on his birth anniversary and wished Children’s Day, today.

“Tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Ji on his birth anniversary,” PM Modi tweeted.

“My tributes to the former Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary today. He will be always remembered for his contribution to building a modern India,” Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu wrote in a social media post.

Naidu also wished Children’s Day and said: “My greetings on Children's Day! Children must dream high and work hard to achieve their goals. Children are our strength and the future of our great nation & we must ensure that no child is deprived of good education, adequate nutrition & healthy environment. #HappyChildrensDay”

“Happy Children's Day to all of us and tributes to a visionary who relentlessly and compassionately shaped modern India,” Maharashtra education minister Varsha Gaikwad tweeted.

“The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country. Happy children's day,” Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University official page tweeted.

The Ministry of Education said in a tweet: “Children are the architect of our nation’s future. This Children’s Day, let’s pledge to nurture every child with holistic learning. #HappyChildrensDay #AmritMahotsav”

“Arrived at the State Congress Committee, paid floral tributes on the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, and inaugurated a picture exhibition based on the life of Nehru. #RememberingNehru,” said Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

Rajasthan education minister Govind Singh Dotasra tweeted: “I bow down to the first Prime Minister of independent India, late Shri Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru ji on his birth anniversary. From the freedom movement of the country to laying the foundation of modern India and strengthening it, Nehru's contribution has been invaluable, which will always be remembered.”

“Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the children on the occasion of Children's Day being celebrated on the occasion of his birth anniversary,” he added.
