NEW DELHI: State governments including Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry reopened colleges on September 1 with COVID-19 guidelines in place. Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Odisha also recently decided to resume offline classes as active COVID-19 cases have started to decline.
Recently, Delhi University vice-chancellor said that they have noted NDMA guidelines and will take a decision to reopen colleges in a phased-manner soon. According to a report from The Hindu, DU has decided to resume physical classes from the next week starting with the third-year students.
JNU and JMI are still considering the decision to reopen their campuses for conducting physical classes. While students are demanding reopening of IITs and other technical institutions, IIT Guwahati director said that institute will reopen soon for all students.
The Assam government earlier had declared that colleges will reopen on September 1. But the government postponed that decision and announced that the colleges will reopen on September 6 for postgraduate, graduate students who have received at least one COVID-19 dose. The state's Disaster Management Authority issued COVID-19 guidelines for resuming colleges in the state and said it can reopen classes from September 6.
As states resume offline classes the admission process in various universities and colleges have also started. The Delhi University UG and PG registrations 2021 were closed on August 31. Over 4 lakh students registered for UG courses and nearly 1.7 lakhs registered for PG courses at DU.

The University of Mumbai (MU) also released the merit lists for admission in MU colleges on August 30. The first list touched 100%, the second 90% and the third list merit scores are between 60 to 80%. The Maharashtra education minister Uday Samant announced that the MU has received A++ grade and 3.65 score from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Andhra Pradesh also decided to resume offline classes for MTech students maintaining all COVID-19 protocols for the academic year 2021-23.
States like Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh are yet to make a decision on reopening schools and colleges.
Schools and colleges in Delhi have already reopened on September 1 but Delhi University (DU) still remains closed. Vice Chancellor, PC Joshi, DU said that a high level meeting was convened to make a decision on reopening colleges, and colleges might resume offline classes in a phased manner.

The office of registrar at Delhi University (DU) in a notice on Monday announced that DU will reopen colleges in a phased manner from September 15. But the safety, health and wellbeing of its students, teachers and non-teaching staff is of the utmost importance.
According to a report from the Hindustan Times, the Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced that colleges and higher educational institutions will reopen in Kerala from October 4 for all students.
While addressing a press conference today, Maharashtra higher education minister Uday Samant said that colleges might reopen in Maharashtra including Mumbai and other regions from November.

The Assam government on Monday announced that the fee waiver scheme under Pragyan Bharti for free admission in HS/ Degree and MA/ MSc/ MCom courses will continue for the year 2021-22 for those students whose parental income is below Rs 2 lakh.
According to a Times of India report, polytechnic colleges and industrial training institutes in Kolkata reopened on Monday. Students were allowed to attend offline classes after a year and a half.

According to a PTI, J-K has issued new COVID-19 guidelines, allowing schools to reopen for Classes 10, 12.
The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) will reopen campus in phases starting from September 6. The campus will first reopen for PhD research scholars who have to submit their thesis by the end of this year. JNU said upon entry, every student will produce a negative RT-PCR test report not earlier than 72 hours prior to arrival.
In other news, students of Visva-Bharti at Santiniketan, who have been staging a sit-in over rustication of three peers for more than a week, began a relay hunger strike on Sunday. An official of the central university said that they were given a chance to defend their case before the enquiry commissioner appointed by the institute, but all three of them were "unapologetic", PTI reported. The students were expelled for three years on August 23.

Visva Bharati campus at Santiniketan, the central university, announced the immediate resumption of admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, citing the Calcutta High Court interim order.
Jamia Hamdard University has decided to reopen colleges for the final-year students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses from September 7 with 50% attendance in each shift. The classes for the final year students will be conducted in both offline and online.

As per a Times Of India report, Delhi Technological University (DTU) and Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) will reopen campuses on Wednesday next week. DTU will first reopen campus for PhD students and then final year postgraduate students. AUD will reopen the campus for UG, PG, MPhil and PhD students.
The offline classes for Class 12 to postgraduate students will start from September 6, the Assam government announced.

A computer-based test for GATE 2022 exam will be conducted by IIT-Kharagpur for 29 papers for admissions into various ME/MTech courses and PSU recruitments on February 5, 6, 12 and 13.
The Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Advanced) 2021 is on October 3. The registrations will begin on September 11, 10am and end on September 16, 5pm.
The NEET 2021 hall ticket is expected to be released by September 9 at neet.nta.nic.in. Aspirants have to affix the passport size photograph on NEET 2021 admit card as per NTA specifications.

Delhi University closed registrations for UG and PG courses on August 31. As per the statistics given by the dean of students welfare DU received over 14,000 applications through Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) and 8,238 applications through sports quota.
Delhi university (DU) clears the air says the notice that reads, “Delhi government has allowed colleges to reopen from 1st September and keeping the benefits of students in mind, it has been decided to reopen all colleges of the University of Delhi from 20 September for second and third year students,” is fake.
The first DU cut-off list 2021 is yet to be formally announced, admission officials earlier said that the first list can be expected around October 1 as by then, the Central Board of Secondary Education’s improvement and compartment exams will be over.
Vice Chancellor PC Joshi said that a high level meeting was convened to take a decision on reopening of colleges. Might reopen colleges in a phased manner.
