NEW DELHI: The uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 crisis and nationwide lockdown has forced many states to promote school students without examinations.
Even with board exams, three school boards have already announced that they will hold exams only in a limited number of subjects and cancel the rest.
The governments of Himachal Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have announced they will promote without exams all children in Classes 1 to 9 and 11 to the next class, say reports on NDTV . Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and the Central Board of Secondary Education had already announced their decisions last week.
The decision on conducting the pending exams of Class 10 and Class 12 would be taken later on.
Board exams
The Haryana School Education Board will announce the results of Class 9 by April 19. The board has decided not to conduct the remaining Class 10 exams. Those who have picked science will be tested later when convenient.
Also boards like CBSE and ICSE have announced granting promotions to students from Class 1 to 8 while pending exams for only a handful of subjects for Classes 10 and 12 will be conducted.
