Use NowThe Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has announced the tentative seat matrix 2026 for the special rounds. As per the CSAB seat matrix 2026, a total of 15,423 vacant seats across 114 participating institutes remain after the completion of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026 counselling rounds.
CSAB Seat Matrix 2026: Top 10 institutes with highest seats
According to the CSAB seat matrix 2026 institute-wise vacancy list, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi has the highest number of tentative vacant seats at 678, followed by School of Studies of Engineering and Technology, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur (493) and Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar (489).
Among the National Institutes of Technology (NITs), NIT Agartala has the highest number of tentative vacant seats with 305, followed by Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat (294), NIT Calicut (283), NIT Srinagar (255) and NIT Raipur (242).

Several Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) have also reported a large number of vacancies. IIIT Senapati, Manipur has 352 vacant seats, followed by IIIT Bhopal (325), IIIT Vadodara (285), IIIT Dharwad (224) and IIIT Bhagalpur (208).

The CSAB Special Rounds 2026 counselling registration process, fee payment, and choice filling for admission to NITs, IIITs, IIEST and other GFTIs commenced on July 28. The mock CSAB seat allotment 2026 is scheduled to be released on July 31, while the registration window will close on August 3 and choice filling and locking will conclude on August 5. The round 1 CSAB 2026 seat allotment result will be declared on August 6, 2026.
