Deakin University Australia, AcSIR to offer research opportunities to doctoral students

Students working in CSIR labs and registered at AcSIR will be able to work with Deakin University Australia faculty members in various fields.
NEW DELHI: Australia's Deakin University has signed an agreement with the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), India for a joint research programme and study for doctoral research students in India and Australia. The joint doctoral agreement aims to offer research opportunities in science and engineering for students in India and Australia, said a statement from Deakin University Australia.
Under the initiative, the candidates of both institutions will be jointly supervised on their thesis. Candidates who meet the minimum requirements will receive an award from the AcSIR and another award from Deakin University. Those who are about to commence a doctoral programme can also apply. Deakin University Australia will provide each candidate with a full tuition fee waiver for up to four years. Candidates will be able to spend up to 12 months in Australia for research along with a stipend.
Through this initiative, students working in CSIR labs and registered at AcSIR can work with Deakin University Melbourne faculty members in various fields such as energy, advanced materials and manufacturing, AI, AR, VR, defence research, food, agriculture, and environment among others.

“AcSIR was established as an ‘Institution of National Importance’ and our aim is to train some of the best of tomorrow’s science and technology leaders. This partnership with Deakin recognizes the value of joint supervision as a vehicle to enhance international research networks and provide opportunities to advance scholarship and the generation of knowledge for doctoral research students. It entails advantage of peer-to-peer learning as well as provides international collegiality to AcSIR students,” said Rajender Sangwan, director of AcSIR.
