Delhi govt to organise international level stage play on BR Ambedkar's life: Kejriwal

AAP government launched a scheme under which students belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS categories get free coaching for JEE, NEET etc.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi government will hold an international level stage play based on the life of Babasaheb BR Ambedkar at the JLN Stadium on January 5, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Monday.

Paying tributes to Ambedkar on his death anniversary, Kejriwal said the play will be staged by well-known actors with international level production. There will be 50 shows and the entry will be free for people, he said.

The chief minister said: “We are celebrating the 75th year of independence. I want to make a big announcement today on the occasion of Babasahab’s Mahaparinirvan Diwas — the Delhi Government is organising a never seen before series of shows to make the legacy of Babasahab reach each and every child of the city."

"It will not be an exaggeration to say that Babasaheb Ambedkar was the most educated Indian. He got masters degrees in 65 subjects and completed two doctorates. He also knew nine languages and maintained a personal library of 50,000 books," Kejriwal said.

AAP govt' programme on BR Ambedkar's life

The programme consisting of 50 shows will be held from January 5, 2022 onwards in the premises of the JLN Stadium in a grand manner. The musical play will be based on his life, thoughts, ideas and ideology and will have famous artists and experts participate in it.

The Delhi chief minister also asserted that he will fulfil Ambedkar's dream of educating every poor child in the country. The Kejriwal government launched the Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana under which meritorious students belonging to SC, ST, OBC and EWS categories receive free coaching from private institutes for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, CLAT, Civil Services, Banking, Railways, SSC among others.

The Kejriwal Government also provides a stipend of Rs 2,500 to the beneficiary students so that they do not face problems in traveling, according to the official statement.

India's first law minister and the architect of the country's Constitution, Ambedkar worked tirelessly for social reforms and the emancipation of the most downtrodden sections of society. He passed away in 1956.
