NEW DELHI: The experts’ committee has recommended reopening Delhi schools for all classes in a phased manner, according to the NDTV report.
The expert committee was formed by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority’s (DDMA) to submit a report on the strategy for reopening schools, colleges, and educational institutions to the Chief minister's office and Lieutenant Governor (LG).
The committee suggested reopening schools in a phased manner. In the first phase, students in higher classes should be called back for offline classes, followed by middle classes, and finally primary classes, the committee proposed.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the government wants to reopen schools at the earliest but no risk will be taken when it is about students' health. "[We] want to reopen schools at the earliest and whenever we make a decision, based on the committee's report, it will be informed," NDTV quoted CM Kejriwal.
Earlier this month, Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia had asked for suggestion from parents, teachers and students on reopening of schools, colleges and other educational institutions. The minister had informed that the government has received over 35,000 suggestions.
The government also announced partial reopening of schools for Classes 10 and 12 and allowed them to visit schools for admission-related work.
The schools in the national capital had reopened only for senior classes in the month of January 2021. The rest of the classes have been closed since March 2020. While Kejriwal had been reiterating his stand on not reopening educational institutions until vaccination is completed.
