NEW DELHI: With a dip in the number of COVID-19 cases, the Delhi government allowed school reopening for Classes 9 to 12 with safety measures. Parents greeted the decision to reopen schools with mixed reactions. While some educational institutions postponed resuming offline classes, several schools saw students glad to be back in class even as heavy rain lashed several parts of Delhi.
Delhi deputy chief minister Mainsh Sisodia in a tweet shared school reopening pictures and said: “Schools are opening today after 17 months, children will again sit in their classrooms to study, have fun with friends. And yes, despite the rain children have reached the school, obviously, children were also eagerly waiting for their school to open.”

pic.twitter.com/RMBcpQaWMr

Schools in Delhi remained shut due to the pandemic situation since last year. Classes have been conducted in online mode. As per the guidelines released by the government on school reopening, no student will be forced to attend physical classes and schools will have to continue with a blended mode of learning- online and offline classes.
The government had also asked school officials to ensure vaccination of teaching and non-teaching staff. It further asked schools to ensure sanitisation of the premises.
