NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Government Examinations, Tamil Nadu has issued the TN Class 12 hall ticket for private students appearing in the public exam 2025. The TN board has issued detailed marking scheme under the new exam pattern for private students and regular students. As per the DGE TN 12th public exam time table 2025, the exam will be held from March 3 to March 25.

Students will be able to download the TN Class 12th hall ticket 2025 from the official website, dge.tn.gov.in, using their application number and date of birth.

The state board informed that the Tamil Nadu Class 12 public exam 2025 will be held as per the new exam pattern, where each subject will carry 70 or 90 marks. Those students who did not pass the plus two exam held as per the old syllabus, where each subject carried 200 marks for a total of 1,200 marks, will also have to appear in the equivalent subject specified in the new syllabus.

Mandatory to pass practical exam

To pass the subjects with the practical exam, students will have to get at least 15 marks out of 70 marks in the written exam and participate in the practical exam. They will have to score a minimum aggregate of 35 marks out of 100 in written test, internal assessment, and practical test. Students obtaining the Tamil Nadu 12th passing mark, 35, without appearing in the practical exams will not be declared qualified.

Those who did not participate in the practical test, but got a minimum score of 15 or more in a theory paper carrying 70 marks, will have to re-appear only for the practical exam.

The TN school board has also clarified the marks distribution for students who have failed to pass the Tamil Nadu 12th public exam in the previous years. Instead of conducting the English and language paper separately as paper 1 and paper 2, the board decided to conduct it as a single paper from the March 2018 public exam.

As per the old syllabus, students had to write the first paper of language or English for 100 marks and the second paper for 80 marks. Those who failed to clear the exam had to appear for the single exam held for 90 marks. “The marks obtained by the candidates for 90 marks in the secondary examinations will be converted to 180 marks by multiplying them by 2 and adding 20 marks for learning/listening to 200 marks and the result will be published,” it said.

TN 12th marking scheme for supplementary students

Private students who have written the Tamil Nadu Class 12 board exam in the old pattern and could not pass or attend the non-practical subjects will have to write the exam as per new pattern implemented from March 2020.

As per the marking scheme, if a student scores X marks out of 90, then the result will be calculated by dividing the marks obtained by 90 and multiplying it by 200. The marks obtained by a student out of 70 in a subject with a practical exam will be converted to 150 marks, ie. X/70, multiplied by 150.

Exams will also be conducted for students who could not attend the listening or speaking skill test for language paper.

“Candidates have to appear for the Listening/Speaking skill test on the specified date notified by the Chief Invigilator of the Examination Centre. Failure to do so will result in loss of 20 marks for the Listening / Speaking test. Only the marks obtained in the conceptual test will be recorded and a mark certificate will be issued,” the board said.
