DU Admission 2021: Over 1 lakh applications received against first, second cut-off lists

NEW DELHI: The Delhi University has received around 1,15,490 applications for admission under the first and second cut-off list so far. 7,245 students completed the process by paying the fees and as many as 13,552 applications have been approved by principals across DU colleges till 6:15pm today.

DU released the first cut-off 2021 on October 1 against which the admissions closed on October 8. The second cut-off 2021 was released for all courses and colleges on October 9 for which the admissions closed today.

Students who have taken admission against the first and second cut-off list and wish to change courses and colleges can change their choices and take admission against the third cut-off list. DU will announce the third cut-off list on October 16.

With DU colleges witnessing a large number of admissions of students from the Kerala state board, the university has issued guidelines to include subjects from other state boards equivalent to ones taught under the Central Board of Secondary Education in the calculation of cut-off marks, a PTI report said.

There is an equivalence committee which decides which subjects from state boards would be similar to CBSE subjects and their inclusion while calculating the cut-off score, the average of best-of-four marks, the PTI report said.

The University of Delhi has refuted and condemned the news which is being circulated regarding favouring candidates from a few boards. “Being a Central University, the University of Delhi equally and uniformly values the academic credentials of all the candidates irrespective of their States and School Boards. This year too, equal opportunity was maintained by accepting applications based on merit only, informed a press release. The Students' Federation of India had earlier demanded that CBSE and its evaluation should not be the deciding factor for admissions in Delhi university and had accused the university of being discriminatory towards state boards.
