Engineering teachers continue to protest demanding permanent jobs
TEQIP qualified faculty members who are protesting have been teaching since January 2018. TEQIP's third phase is going to end on September 30.

NEW DELHI: Research scholars from some of the top engineering colleges recruited by the central government under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme ( TEQIP ) have been protesting here in Delhi demanding appointments in their project institutes.
TEQIP qualified faculty members who are protesting have been teaching since January 2018.
In July, the ministry of education wrote to the chief secretaries of focus states requesting plans for continuation of activities that were undertaken during the third phase of TEQIP to maintain the quality of technical education. TEQIP's third phase is going to end on September 30.
The faculty members requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to resolve the issue and said "provide us what was promised in the MoU."

A research scholar, in a tweet, said, “Transparent recruitement, IISc/IITs/NITs pass outs, exceptional performance as reported by govt agency. Highly trained and qualified. @TeqipF have stood on the pillars. Still no regularization/absorbtion plan.”
The graduates were selected mostly from the Indian Institutes of Technology (NIT) and National Institutes of Technology (NIT) to teach in parts of seven low-income states .
The ministry of education selected these teachers and placed them in public technical colleges under the third phase of TEQIP. They had qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) to be eligible.
Over 1,500 graduates were placed in backward areas including Muzaffarpur and Gaya in Bihar, Lakhanpur in Chhattisgarh, Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh and Ajmer in Rajasthan to improve the quality of technical education.
